A Couple of Nice Books for Understanding Covenant Theology

I just got back today from my week away in Sydney, and while I was down in the Blue Mountains, I visited my friends at the Little Lost Bookshop (Wandering Bookseller). They were getting ready for a Conference happening this weekend. So I was helping them out stickering books and getting the shelves stocked. In exchange for my help, I was sent on my way with a bunch of books! Considering that I wear a T-shirt that says, “When I have a little money I buy books, and if I have any left over, I buy food and clothes.” (Erasmus) I was pretty chuffed really!

Well, two in particular have already been really exciting to me – especially as both books are quite connected in their subject matter. I would already highly recommend them for understanding covenant theology. And of course, as I actually get through the whole books, I will give a bigger review. But here is what I’ve discovered so far. Continue reading “A Couple of Nice Books for Understanding Covenant Theology”

About Me

Welcome to Free Aussie’s Library!

I’m just an Aussie guy who loves reading books! I also love to share what I’m reading and get the conversations flowing.

So this website will be a place where I’ll be posting reviews of a wide variety of interesting books! I read quite widely, both fiction and non-fiction, books about politics, spirituality, religion, philosophy, business, society and culture. Just about anything you could imagine really!

WHY I AM SO OBSESSED WITH BOOKS

Books are powerful really!

Words and ideas on their own are awesome, but I was just considering the other day about how amazing it is that at some point, humanity developed ways to record their words and ideas in a form that could be easily shared around, and could even defeat death, and pass those ideas on to successive generations.

Some books that we read are contemporary, while other books can be hundreds or even thousands of years old! It is actually pretty amazing to think that these writings that are super ancient actually must have been worth so much to people that read them, that they worked hard to preserve them and pass them on.

So that’s just a little of why I’m obsessed with books.

Also, words are the ultimate mind-expansion drug, I reckon! Dictionaries can be pretty radical. So imagine, reading books expand your vocabulary and your ability to form and express thoughts. That is awesome!

WHY I WANT TO SHARE WHAT I’VE BEEN LEARNING

I’m a student right now, so I have a bit of extra time to find awesome books and to actually read them, chew over them, give thought to their contents. Really, that is a bit of luxury that I could easily take for granted.

So that makes me want to take advantage of my time – and my passion – and write about what I’m reading and what I’m learning, so it might help others to find awesome books too.

HIT THE BOOKS, MATE!

So at the end of the day, what do I want to achieve?

Mostly, I want to inspire you to find the joy and inspiration in countless pages too. I want to help point people in the direction of awesome things to read in whatever particular area of interest inspires them.

So if you ever need a hand finding a great book, have suggestions for something I could read, or just have any question really, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Steven Pidgeon
